Allah, Elle and the Recording on My Phone

Allah, Elle and the Recording on My Phone

I have another unusual personal story connected with Elle from Escort Centre and my beliefs about Allah.

At the time, I experienced something that I interpreted as Allah “bricking” me and Elle up together inside my house. During this experience, I believed Allah had recorded himself on my phone.

The words I remember hearing on the recording were:

“Do we have a deal?”

I interpreted those words as an agreement or covenant. To me, the deal meant that if I continued growing chillies for Allah, I would eventually be able to live together with Elle.

The Covenant of Chillies

Chillies had become an important symbol within my personal religious ideas. I regarded growing them as my covenant with Allah.

My hope went beyond simply seeing Elle again. I imagined us living together at my old home and building a life there.

I would have liked to keep chickens at the house as well. In the future I imagined growing chillies and using some of the produce to feed the chickens, bringing together the home, the garden, Elle and what I understood as my covenant with Allah.

What Actually Happened

That future never materialised.

I didn’t get to live with Elle at my old home, and I didn’t see her again as I had hoped.

Because of that, I eventually came to feel that Allah had failed to deliver what I believed the experience had promised me.

Whatever the explanation for the recording and the other things I experienced at the time, the episode became part of my personal story about Elle, religion and the future I once imagined.

For me, it represents the difference between what I believed was being promised to me and what ultimately happened in my life.
